Not everyone knows how to modify their movements and I worry that someone might just give up. I know that all the videos for this year are already recorded but maybe for next year some adjustments could be made somehow to give further instructions to people that can't move so easily from certain poses to another. I need you to know that the way the instruction are in the video would be hard for someone who has never done yoga before and they had my issues. I am also a larger woman which makes it harder to move through the poses because of my lack of flexibility and size.Īs I do this practice I have been thinking about other people who have the same difficulties I have and I wonder if they are sticking to it, I hope so. ![]() It has been quite a challenge for me because I am so out of shape and no flexibility. It is something that I really need and I am happy and thankful that I am doing it. I am loving that you are offering this 31 day yoga revolution. Once my hips aren't a tight mess anymore I'll start worrying about that.)Īnother problem I had was breathing like that without scrambling my rhythm by semi-consciously trying to match Adriene's (consciously enough I noticed I was doing it, but subconsciously enough I couldn't bring myself to stop.) (Well, most of it Downward to lunge still is a two step process. Once I said "okay, let's break this down" and paused and walked myself slowly through the process after watching it closely without having to worry about "keeping up", I actually managed. In two of the (to me) most challenging parts, both the extending-knee to nose-extending-touch toes and fingers and the Downward dog - lunge - lizard - plank -childs pose combo I found that when I tried to follow along with Adriene, I quickly felt hurried (because I needed those extra few fractions of a second to mentally parse the instructions and then felt behind already, then started to scramble to "keep up", was no longer capable to follow the instructions, and usually fell on the mat in a heap - but I just thought I couldn't do it as I initially tried. I also identified one key problem area for me, and that is that I have trouble simultaneously parsing Adrienes instructions and following them at the same time as soon as it gets complicated (audio processing issues for the win!) ![]() I actually made it through without any significant pauses today!
